Asus TUF is one of the best names in the world in terms of gaming components. It doesn’t matter whether you’re buying an Asus TUF keyboard, a TUF gaming-case, or in this case, a TUF laptop; you can bet that it’s going to be a premium and durable product.
Processor: AMD R7 4800H
Storage: 1TB SSD
GPU: GTX 1660Ti
Display Size: 15.6”
The screen is a 15.6” IPS-display with 1920×1080 resolution. While that may not seem too special, the screen has a 144Hz refresh rate making it the perfect screen for gaming.
The laptop is equipped with one of the latest AMD Ryzen 7 processors with 8 cores and 16 threats. It has a base clock of 2.9 GHz with a max boost clock of 4.2 GHz. If you don’t know what that means, well let us tell you. It’s pretty fast.
With most gaming laptops being sold today, you get a 256GB or a 512GB SSD which is never enough. AAA games these days like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare are over 100 gigs in size. Well, Asus realizes that and has gone over the top to install a 1TB SSD in this laptop
- The laptop uses a Realtek 8822CE NIC Wi-Fi card which is glitchy.
- The Wi-Fi card will cause constant connection drops and ping spikes.
Overall, a solid laptop in terms of the components. However, the Wi-Fi card is such a huge letdown. You’re getting this laptop for gaming and for 90% of the users, it’ll be online gaming and they’re paying tons of cash to have a reliable internet connection, and then here comes TUF with a Wi-Fi card that would still cause internet issues. If you can use an ethernet cable for gaming, this laptop is as good as it gets. Otherwise, it’s a pass. There’s only one downside, but it is substantial.
